Activities

Some Manchester Unity branches meet fortnightly, others monthly. Meetings can be for social, business or "ritual" purposes.  Social activities (including bowls, cards, film nights, trips) run by branches and Districts bring together people from all over Victoria - members of one branch know that they are also warmly welcomed in other branches, not only in Victoria but also interstate and in the United Kingdom.

All of our branches work tirelessly for the greater community, raising funds for local charities and community groups.

Charitable projects include:

Manufacturing prone trolleys for donation to the children’s wards of
local hospitals.

Annual donations to local SES units.

Fundraising for the "Raise the Roof" cancer patient accommodation appeal.

Supporting local hospitals.

Fundraising for residents’ facilities at Australian Unity's hostel and nursing home, Wahroonga, at Glen Waverley - in particular, for the purchase of hi-lo beds.

A particular benefit of Manchester Unity membership is the principle of mutual aid to fellow members who may be ill or suffering from the various vicissitudes of life.

Involvement in the meetings and conferences of Manchester Unity gives members invaluable training in public speaking, debating and conducting meetings - skills which carry through to the workplace.  Invariably,
members attest to the self-confidence they have developed through Manchester Unity.
